MY SPECIALTIES

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

I work individually with adolescents and adults.  Sessions will be tailored to address your specific goals and concerns.

MOBILITY AND WEIGHT LOSS

My background in assessing and coaching movement with athletes and those seeking body composition changes gives me unique insight into how emotions, thoughts, habits, and movement are inter-twined.  Learning how to be patient with the process oriented task of long-term, positive health change calls for gentleness with yourself and highlighting the strengths you already possess.

SPORTS PERFORMANCE

Sports are an integral part of our culture and society.  Athletic involvement can be extremely rewarding and play a vital role in personal development.  Injuries, performance decline, and the pressure to perform can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression.  Teaching athletes to take all experiences as teachable moments and to prepare with purpose is often dismissed in the business of practice and competition.  Through mindfulness techniques, positive psychology, and cognitive re-framing, athletes have the ability to cultivate an internal environment that benefits performance enhancement.

DEPRESSION

The difficulties, challenges, uncertainties of modern life can be daunting.  As circumstances pile onto each other, it is understandable to feel as if options and a refreshed sense of self are unobtainable.  By examining patterns of thought, emotions, and daily habits through a strengths-based lens, we can work towards breaking away from the weight of feeling lost and overwhelmed.

STRESS & TRAUMA

Experiences that lead to stress and trauma are common.  However, each individual works through these experiences in a unique way.  Culture, family dynamics, coping styles, and any number of inter- and intra-personal circumstances shape how we move through stress and trauma.  Being able to safely explore patterns and responses within a nurturing, patient environment is my hope for clients wanting to address this theme.

ANXIETY

Worry and concern over what has happened, what is happening, or what might happen is a shared experience in daily life.  It is easy to become caught in the cycle of trying to manage this experience rather than observing and recognizing what is outside of our control.  By pulling apart habits of thought and action, creating obtainable responses, and following through on a plan, we are able to minimize the difficulties associated with anxiety.
